\f0\fs24 \cf0 Welcome to Zork Craft!\
\

\b INTRODUCTION
\b0 \
This is my first adventure map. It started out as a recreation of the Zork 1 map in Minecraft. I decided I should probably share it with people after spending the time building it, and decided to convert it to an adventure map. I tried to make it fun without compromising my appreciation of the original Zork. All that to say, I hope you like it! I've definitely made enough mistakes to detract some people. Here's a few notes.\
\
I started building too high. Ugly clouds will get in the way while you're underground! If you don't care, play like normal. If it bugs you, remove the cloud layer. There is a simple tutorial at:\

\
I decided to use the Nether. It's really a quick in and out\'85 but for some reason, leaving the Nether doesn't bring you back to the same place. Most of the time, it works like it should. If it doesn't, I'm really sorry!\
\
I did my best to balance mob generation. Hopefully it works out all right for everyone.\
\
I simply could not accomplish connecting some the the rooms the way the developers of Zork 1 did. The directions just don't make any literal sense. I know this will only bother those who have played Zork. If this is you, just know it bugs me too! Here's a list of things different from Zork 1.\
\

\b DIFFERENCES FROM ZORK 1
\b0 \
- The Strange Passage between the Cyclops room and the Living Room does not exist. Sorry. It just doesn't work in the real world.\
\
- The Slide Room and the Cellar don't connect. Again, a directional and locational impossibility. Argh!\
\
- The Mirrors and Granite Walls don't teleport you. I guess I might have been able to do it with mods, but I just don't care that much. Someone else could do it I suppose. If you do, let me know!\

\b0 \cf0 - I used John Smith's Texture Pack while building. If you use a different texture pack, some things may look a little silly. But you're welcome to use whatever texture pack makes you happy!\

\b \

\b0 - Only dig sand or wool unless otherwise told. There are really only two times you will need to dig.\
\
- Don't go too far while you're outside! I tried to keep everything pretty contained\'85 so don't get lost! Paths will tell you where to go for the most part. The majority of the map is underground.\
\
- Play on at least easy. It wouldn't be Minecraft without Creepers scaring the piss out of you.\
\
- Try not to die! You might be able to find a pig or two for a raw porkchop\'85 but I didn't die at all after playing on easy multiple times. So try it without heals at least once.\
\

\b A FINAL WORD\
\

\b0 If you've never played Zork, or any text adventure for that matter, do it! Text adventures were a pretty big part of my childhood memories of computer gaming, and they're really a bit of a lost art now. Do yourself a favor and play a few!\
\
Thanks a lot! Let me know if you enjoy the map! If you hate it, well\'85 I guess you can tell me that too.\
